About EnviroVision Solutions

Technology firm Envirovision Solutions (Pty) Ltd. are world leaders in the development of intelligent sensory systems designed to protect assets and improve the high stakes decision making process. Whether saving lives, property, resources, or any combination of the above, field-tested EVS systems are now enhancing the operations of industries and governments across the globe.

Background

EVS was formed in 2002, although the company had its origins a decade earlier with the work of EVS founder, and CEO, Dr Gavin Hough. While based in Antarctica, where he was completing research for his PhD in Space Physics, Gavin developed a mathematical algorithm which could be used to detect and monitor the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) when using a combination of automated cameras and image processing computer software.

Gavin noticed the similarity between the motion patterns of the Aurora and those of wildfire smoke, and with the help of an innovative team of programmers, engineers, technical staff and business partners, Gavin’s initial vision system went on to become ForestWatch®, EVS’s award-winning flagship system for early fire detection.

EVS today

With a head office in Durban, South Africa, and distributors, partners and system integrators across the globe, EVS is committed to offering more than just stand-alone products. Our ISO-accredited organisation works in close consultation with our clients so as to best and most cost effectively meet your individual requirements, customising systems where necessary. Our commitment continues even after systems are in place, with extensive training available, and dedicated EVS technical personnel always on hand for remote support.

EVS may specialise in advanced computerised technology but this doesn’t mean we neglect the human side of our man-machine interactions. We believe that the best solutions come from good people plus good technology!

We are a small, focused company that develops close, personal relationships with our clients, partners and everyone within our organisation. We care about our people. And within South Africa, with its history of racial inequality, EVS has been working hard to improve the skills, careers and lives [link to Careers] of the previously disadvantaged. In fact, we have been rated a Level 3 (110%) BBBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment) contributor.
